I could not believe the race I saw last night.
I certainly do not follow the sport of swimming on a daily basis (that privilidge is given to the NFL), but I love watching our U.S. Olympic athletes compete on the biggest stage in the world.
Last night as I witnessed the American men capture the gold medal for swimming by winning the 4×100 freestyle event, I could not help myself. I stood up and went nuts in my house. I was alone except for my 5 year old son, Jack, sleeping a couple rooms away.
This race had everything. The French team was the favorite and talking trash. There was lead changes. Unbelievable split times. A World Record. Beating the French by 0.08 seconds. A Herculean come from behind win with the final 50 meters being the most exciting finish to a race I have ever seen. Period.
Here is a link to the race (you may need the Microsoft Silverlight plugin), but it is worth the effort.
