2008 NFL Season

Tomorrow starts the 2008 NFL Season. Thank goodness! Once again, I am hosting the NFL Pool so my friends and I can forego giving our email addresses to companies (like ESPN) that will bombard us with marketing emails for the next century. Thinking back, I think I have been hosting a pool for 12 years now.  I think (although I am not sure about this) the inaugural NFL Pool was back in 2000. So, what are my predictions for the season? The Best Race Ever

I could not believe the race I saw last night.  I certainly do not follow the sport of swimming on a daily basis (that privilidge is given to the NFL), but I love watching our U.S. Olympic athletes compete on the biggest stage in the world. Last night as I witnessed the American men capture the gold medal for swimming by winning the 4x100 freestyle event, I could not help myself.  I stood up and went nuts in my house.  I was alone except for my 5 year old son, Jack, sleeping a couple rooms away. Randy Pausch Last Lecture

Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon professor who became a YouTube phenomenon with his "Last Lecture," died today of complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 47. He died at his home in southern Virginia. Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.
