Like you I have been giving my daughter a weekly allowance for feeding the dogs, cleaning her room and other little things around our home. Last year for her fifth birthday we decided to have a food drive instead of receiving presents at her party. This year for Christmas before Santa can bring her anything new Mackenzie must go through all her clothes, shoes and toys and donate items she no longer needs, uses or has grown out of. Her and I have agreed this will be something we will do any time she wants or gets something new. It seems to be a good way to help her understand there are those who are in need every day and how important it is to give to others.
