This weekend I went to 220 East on Davis Island Boulevard for the third time in recent memory.  Everytime we go, we have a good meal.  The service is always good.  They have an excellent menu.  The price is is not expensive, but its not cheap either.  I like it.

First, DeeDee and I have been known to split a bottle of wine in our day.  I hate buying a bottle of wine in a restaurant because restaurants seem to mark up an ordinary bottle of wine WAY TOO MUCH.  220 East has a good selection plus the price for a bottle is reasonable.  That’s a big plus for me.

On one occassion, we selected the Wild Horse Pinot Noir 2006.  I recommend this wine.  It was an excellent California Red.  Again, it was reasonably priced.

Usually, Jack wants some pizza.  I am more than happy to oblige.  The pizza appetizer is excellent with fresh basil on top.  The crust is crispy and not too thick.

We sampled the cheeseburger on some really good french bread,  Typically, burgers are not a dish that would make we want to return to a restaurant, but it was really tasty.

I am very critical of restaurants which have Chicken Marsala on their menu.  The reason:  I make a mean Chicken Marsala.  How can anyone compare to one my own signature dishes?   I have to admit.  220 East makes a delicious Chicken Marsala.  The marsala wine sauce with mushrooms is quite good and the chicken is cooked very well.  I had the loaded baked potato with my meal.  Are you hungry yet?

As good as the food is – I have nothing but good things to say about the service we receive while we dine.  The staff is very personable and have an excellent knowledge of the menu and the wines in stock.

As long as you don’t keep me from being seated right way, I hope you accept my recommendation and give 220 East a try.  It truly is one of my new favorites.
