I saw Disney’s A Christmas Carol this weekend. It is an animated retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey through Scrooge’s past, present, and future. The story is not new. It is the same story we have seen many times so I won’t bore you with a synopsis of the story, but I would like to comment on the technology and the specifics of the film. var flashvars = { width: "580", height: "350", autostart: "false", repeat:... Café Don José Review
My family moved back to the Tampa area when I was twelve years old. We spent my elementary school years in Sarasota and returned to live in Temple Terrace. As many know, Café Don José has been a fixture in Temple Terrace for years. I remembered when I was a kid looking over at the full parking lot in the Sherwood Forest Center on 56th Street and noticing how Café Don José must be packed that night. Clearly, this statement is now dated since the restaurant has moved north of Fowler Avenue... [Read more]
Gino’s Bar & Restaurant Review
Gino's Street Sign Gino’s Bar & Restaurant is my favorite place for Italian food in Tampa. I love Italian food. I do not claim to be an expert. While I am cognizant of the fact that I cannot categorize Lee Roy Selmon’s as strictly a barbecue restaurant, they smoke some pretty good meat. I hope readers do not confuse my words of praise with idol worship. While it may be true that Lee Roy Selmon was the first Buccaneer in franchise history and its only member of the Hall of Fame, these fact are in no way shaping my positive review of Selmon’s... Smoke Barbeque & Grill Review
Several years ago, there was a auto detail show on the corner of South Boulevard and Platt Street. Most importantly, Mr. Klean served some REALLY good barbecue. I remember getting pulled pork or ribs with a potato salad and collard greens. OH MY GOODNESS!! Anyhow, the property owner raised the rent so high that Mr. Klean had to relocate to Columbus Drive (and then went out of business) and my lunchtime barbecue options were diminished by one. Smoke on Platt Barbeque & Grill After a... [Read more]
