Smoke Barbeque & Grill Review

Several years ago, there was a auto detail show on the corner of South Boulevard and Platt Street.  Most importantly, Mr. Klean served some REALLY good barbecue.  I remember getting pulled pork or ribs with a potato salad and collard greens.  OH MY GOODNESS!! Anyhow, the property owner raised the rent so high that Mr. Klean had to relocate to Columbus Drive (and then went out of business) and my lunchtime barbecue options were diminished by one. Smoke on Platt Barbeque & Grill After a... [Read more]

Melody Gardot

Melody Gardot So a couple of months ago, I was checking out CDBaby.com (a site that has CDs from mostly independent artists). I clicked on the “top sellers” link and saw the CD for sale from Melody Gardot. The CD was recommended if you like Norah Jones and Amos Lee. Hi Guys and Gals, Sooo Good Southern Bar B Que on Hillsborough Ave, Tampa Without question, I have been judging barbeque more than 25 years.  When I was 17 years old, I took a job with Lupton’s Fatman’s BBQ as a busboy.  Within in a year, I was cooking on the dinner shift.  Later, I became a catering supervisor and started cooking for hundreds (and occasionally thousands) in one day. My Double Barrel Smoker This started my education with barbecue.  I continue to educate myself... [Read more]

Like many, I have a Netflix subscription.  The great thing about Netflix is I don’t spend money on purchasing DVDs (many of which I cannot watch past the first twenty minutes). Anyho’, a friend recommended the movie, Outsourced.  I really liked it.  I was actually able to watch the movie by streaming the movie instantly from Netflix. It is your typical fish out of water film starring Josh Hamilton as Todd whose company decides to outsource  their call center to India in an effort... [Read more]

Spartaco Trattoria Italiana Review

Chicken Marsala Last night, I had dinner at Spartaco Trattoria Italiana in South Tampa. DeeDee and I went about 6pm on a Wednesday, not your busiest time or day of the week. Still, I expected there to be one or two tables taken. It was DeeDee and me and the rest of the staff. What a shame! This place was really good. Our waiter was very pleasant and fully knowledgeable regarding the menu and the specials which included snapper, veal scalloppini, and a pasta trio (which I ordered).  When we were... [Read more]
